STEN Announces Teralba Industries Becomes Network’s Newest Member

Teralba Trusted Heat Transfer
Dimpleflo Heat Transfer Technology

The Sewer Thermal Energy Network is pleased to announce that Teralba Industries has been welcomed as the newest member of our network. Teralba Industries is an internationally active designer and manufacturer of engineered heat transfer systems, with over 50 years of experience supporting municipal, industrial, and commercial infrastructure projects. Operating from advanced manufacturing facilities in Australia and supplying projects globally, Teralba provides design consultation, in-house engineering, fabrication, and full system integration services, supporting projects from concept through to installation and commissioning.

As a mutual benefit organization, STEN is proud to have such a capable technology provider join the ranks of membership. “These kinds of members offer our municipal, buildings and industrial membership access to a wider choice of technologies”, said Paul Kohl, Chair of the STEN Board of Directors. “As our membership grows, so does our advocacy”.

“We see strong global momentum behind sewer thermal energy, and STEN is at the centre of that movement. Teralba’s Dimpleflo technology has a long track record in harsh wastewater environments, and we’re excited to support the next generation of sewer energy projects”. Said Andrew Baker, CEO of Teralba.

The addition of Teralba will strengthen STEN’s ability to promote sustainable energy solutions. The Sewer Thermal Energy Network is increasingly prepared to contribute to major improvements in sustainable urban development, leveraging advanced technologies and industry insights to drive the adoption of heat recycling around the world. With each new network member, we are advancing our goal of transforming urban heating and cooling systems, showcasing the power of collaborative innovation in making a tangible environmental impact.

ABOUT TERALBA:

With over 50 years of engineering and manufacturing experience, Teralba Industries designs and manufactures advanced heat transfer solutions for demanding wastewater and sewer energy recovery applications worldwide. Central to these solutions is Teralba’s patented Dimpleflo® technology, a turbulence-enhancing heat exchanger design engineered for high thermal performance and long-term reliability in fouling-prone environments.

Teralba’s systems are supported by a substantial global installation base, with equipment operating across most major wastewater treatment facilities in Australia, and long-term installations in Singapore, the United Kingdom, and numerous locations throughout the United States. This international track record demonstrates proven performance in continuous-duty sewer and wastewater applications where reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle performance are critical.

Dimpleflo heat exchangers are particularly well suited to raw sewer and wastewater heat recovery, where fluids contain solids, debris, and biological material. The dimpled tube geometry increases turbulence and shear stress, promoting a self-cleaning effect that enables reliable operation without fine screening, mechanical wipers, or back-flushing systems. This makes Dimpleflo an ideal solution for sewer thermal energy networks, building-scale sewer heat recovery, and district energy systems requiring robust, low-maintenance infrastructure.

ABOUT STEN:

The Sewer Thermal Energy Network is a US based international member-supported 501(c)(6) organization, dedicated to advocacy, education, information dissemination, capacity building, and networking opportunities for industry leaders, municipalities, and wastewater utilities, and academics. We help communities and businesses discover the potential of unused resources with the utilization of freely available heat contained within a sewer system for the heating and cooling of the built environment, from a single building to a whole district.
