STEN Held Presentation for the TEN4CT Group to Promote State Supported Sewer Thermal Energy Use

Thermal Energy Network for Connecticut

The Sewer Thermal Energy Network (STEN) presented to an active group called the Thermal Energy Network for Connecticut (TEN4CT) on Thursday, December 18, 2025. The two STEN board members at the meeting were Paul Kohl and Constantine Leotsakos. It was a lively discussion where both ground source heat pumps and sewage thermal energy use were presented. STEN made the case that both technologies were useful for decarbonization and electrification - in other words that both were good tools to have in one's tool bag.

The main objective for STEN was to help the gathered members of TEN4CT to be more informed when promoting state supported feasibility studies regarding sewage thermal heat use. The meeting was a success, a CT legislator indicated that the measure had passed and that funding would hopefully follow at the next bond issuance. All in all it looks as if Connecticut is the next State to promote sewage thermal energy use and STEN could not be happier.
